Get to Know
Dr. April Korte
For Dr. April Korte, dentistry isn’t just about creating smiles, it’s about creating relationships.
She says that nothing is more fulfilling than meeting someone, getting to know them so she truly understands their situation and goals, and then using that connection to uplift their oral health and confidence.
Dr. Korte is eager to earn your trust at each and every appointment, but first, you can learn a little more about her background below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
When Dr. Korte was thinking about what kind of career she wanted while still in high school, she knew it had to be within the medical field. She loved science and had a passion for helping others. She ended up becoming a certified nursing assistant (CNA) while in college but realized medicine wasn’t for her.
This led her to shadow other medical professionals, including a pharmacist, chiropractor, and even her hometown dentist. She found dentistry to be the most appealing, and to gain more experience, she interned at an oral surgery office and absolutely loved it! She had found her passion--it was the first job she had that she was excited to go to every day (and still is).
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After attending the College of Saint Benedict, Dr. Korte went on to earn her dental degree from Midwestern University. She graduated at the top of her class and was a member of the National Dental Honors Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), which only invites the top-performing dental students.
Dr. Korte still has a strong passion for learning and has completed over 450 hours of continuing education that have covered a wide variety of dental topics. A certified Invisalign provider, she enjoys doing all types of dentistry and strives to be able to offer her patients a wide variety of procedures.
In her effort to continually expand her knowledge and skills, Dr. Korte is a member of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Life back at home is nice and busy for Dr. Korte and her husband thanks to their three young boys (including a set of twins!). She loves spending time with her family, whether this involves being outside, riding bikes, going to new parks, or playing sports. Beyond that, she likes to go golfing, read, ride her Peloton, try new restaurants, and travel (which saw her do the world’s highest commercial bungee jump in South Africa!).
